Cruise port Amalfi

The picturesque city of Amalfi is a popular cruise port on the Amalfi Coast, which is usually accessed by tender boat, bringing you directly into the heart of the historic town. Arriving from the DACH region often requires a combination of different modes of transport, as direct access is limited.

Airplane

The nearest international airport is Naples-Capodichino (NAP), located approximately 38.3 km to 65 km from Amalfi and easily accessible with direct flights from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. For a stress-free transfer from the airport to Amalfi, a taxi or private transfer is recommended, which covers the distance in about 1 hour and 1 to 1 hour and 20 minutes and can cost around 90 to 120 euros. Alternatively, direct buses operated by Pintour run several times a day from Naples-Capodichino Airport to Piazza Flavio Gioia in Amalfi, with a travel time of around 1 hour and 50 minutes. Another option is to take the Alibus to Naples Central Station (Napoli Centrale) and from there the high-speed train to Salerno, followed by a ferry or a SITA bus to Amalfi. Due to the often long journey and potential transfer times, it is advisable to arrive one day before embarkation and plan a pre-cruise overnight stay in the region.

Train

The most important train stations for traveling to the Amalfi Coast are Salerno and Naples. Salerno is a central hub for high-speed trains such as Trenitalia Frecciarossa and Italo, with connections from all over Italy. From Salerno station, you can easily reach Amalfi by SITA Sud bus in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. A particularly scenic and often faster alternative is to continue by ferry from the Port of Salerno (Molo Concordia, just a 10-minute walk from the train station) to Amalfi, which takes about 35 to 40 minutes. There are also bus connections from Naples (Napoli Centrale / Piazza Garibaldi) to Amalfi with a travel time of about 2 hours, or seasonal ferry connections from Molo Beverello (May to October) taking approx. 90 minutes.

Car & Parking

Arriving by car to the Amalfi Coast offers breathtaking views along the Amalfitana coastal road, but is challenging due to the narrow and winding roads as well as very limited parking options. In high season (April to October), parking spaces in Amalfi are rare and expensive, and there may even be traffic restrictions for cars with even or odd license plate endings. Short- and long-term parking options are available in the Luna Rossa parking garage, which is carved into the rock between Amalfi and Atrani, as well as in the Berma Portuale/Il Porto parking lot directly at the harbor. It is strongly recommended to check parking options in advance and, if possible, switch to public transport or use a Park & Ride strategy from nearby towns such as Salerno or Vietri sul Mare and continue from there by ferry or bus.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents will usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the cruise: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
