Returning to the ship

The enchanting island of Lefkada in the Ionian Sea is a charming destination for cruises. Guests on larger ships usually reach lively Nydri by tender boat, while smaller ships and yachts often dock at the modern marina in Lefkada Town. What makes it special: Lefkada is directly connected to the Greek mainland via a practical floating bridge and is therefore easily accessible by land.

Airplane

The fastest and most convenient way to arrive for guests from the DACH region is via Aktion National Airport (PVK) near Preveza on the Greek mainland. This airport is located only about 12.6 to 25 kilometers from Lefkada Town and offers numerous direct flights from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during the summer months.

Transfer & Shuttle

Excellent transfer options exist from Preveza Airport (PVK) to the island of Lefkada. A taxi ride to Lefkada Town takes approximately 19 to 25 minutes. For the onward journey to Nydri, the anchor point for many cruise ships, allow about 55 minutes by private transfer. In addition, buses run several times a day, reaching Lefkada Town in about 25 to 40 minutes. Private shuttle services also offer comfortable and often pre-bookable direct connections.

Auto & Parking

Lefkada is directly connected to the Greek mainland via a movable floating bridge, meaning no ferry crossing is necessary. Thanks to new road projects such as the Amvrakia Motorway (A52), the driving time from Athens has been reduced to about 3 hours 20 minutes, making arrival by car much easier. If you are arriving by ferry from Italy (e.g., to Igoumenitsa), you can reach Lefkada from there in around 1.5 to 2 hours driving time (approx. 110-120 km) via well-developed roads. Public parking is available in Lefkada Town at the marina and in the harbor area, some of which is free of charge. For a relaxed embarkation, especially after a long journey, we recommend booking a pre-cruise hotel on the island.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
