Kalamata is the second largest city in the Peloponnese and welcomes travelers as a sun-drenched gateway to the deep blue Messenian Gulf. Cruise ships dock at the main quay of the port of Kalamata, from which the bustling coastal mile is directly accessible and the vibrant city center can be reached in around 25 minutes on foot or comfortably by a short transfer.

Car
Kalamata is excellently connected to the Greek motorway network. The Moreas Motorway (A7) connects the city directly with Corinth and offers a fast route from the entire Peloponnes and from Athens. In Kalamata itself, there are centrally located, paid parking options such as "Dimotiko Parking" or "Kentriko / Dimotiko," which often offer favorable rates and are partly free of charge on weekends.
Airplane
Kalamata International Airport (KLX), also known as "Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos," is located only about 7 to 9 kilometers west of the city center and the port. It serves as the most important gateway to the Peloponnes and receives numerous charter and low-cost flights from all over Europe, especially in summer, which enables direct connections from the DACH region. From the airport, you can easily reach the city center and the port by bus in about 20 minutes for 1–2 € or by taxi in around 11 minutes for 10–12 €. Car rental companies such as Sixt, Hertz, and Kiss Rental offer their services directly in the arrivals hall, and private transfer services are also available.
Pre-Cruise Hotel & Transfer
For a relaxed arrival, especially for international flights or an early embarkation, an overnight stay in Kalamata the day before is recommended. The city offers a variety of beautiful hotels and accommodations, many of them in direct proximity to the port or along the lively beach promenade.
