Cruise port Delos Island (Cyclades)

Delos is a unique travel destination that does not serve as a classic embarkation port but as an uninhabited archaeological site, typically visited as part of a day trip. Cruise ships usually call at Delos as a port of call, with passengers transferring from the ship or the nearby island of Mykonos by tender boat.

Airplane (via Mykonos or Athens)

For guests from the DACH region, travel to Delos is possible indirectly via the nearest inhabited island, Mykonos. Mykonos Airport (JMK) is the closest airport and is often reached with direct flights from major European cities during the high season. Alternatively, a flight to Athens International Airport (ATH) is an option, from where numerous connecting flights (approx. 45 minutes flight time) or fast ferry connections to Mykonos exist. Ferries operate from the port of Piraeus (travel time 2h 40min to 5h 50min) or Rafina (faster, from 2.5 hours) to Mykonos.

Connection to Delos (from Mykonos)

From Mykonos, you can easily reach Delos. Mykonos International Airport (JMK) is only about 4-6 kilometers from the ports in Mykonos Town. A direct bus connects the airport with the New Port (Tourlos) in around 20 minutes for about 2 euros, and taxis take about 7 minutes. The ferries to Delos mainly depart from the Old Port in Mykonos Town (Chora). The crossing takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and round-trip tickets cost approximately 22 to 25 euros. The entrance fee to the archaeological site on Delos is payable separately and is around 12 to 20 euros. It is recommended to book ferry tickets in advance, especially during the busier months.

Note for Cruise Guests and Pre-Cruise Hotel

Delos is visited by cruise ships as a significant archaeological site, with visitors usually brought to the island as part of organized shore excursions from Mykonos or by tender boat from the ship. Since Delos itself offers no overnight accommodation and sturdy shoes and sufficient sun protection are necessary for exploring the extensive ruins, arriving the day before at the embarkation port or in Mykonos is recommended. This allows you to start your exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage site relaxed and enjoy the historical atmosphere without time pressure. Many hotels in Mykonos also offer transfers to the ports.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always observe the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
