Port Information
Chania on Crete is a radiant jewel in the eastern Mediterranean and captivates with its fascinating blend of Venetian, Ottoman, and Greek influences. Cruise ships dock at the Souda Cruise Terminal in the protected Bay of Souda, from where convenient shuttle buses or taxis reach the city center, about seven kilometers away, in just 15 minutes, allowing for a perfect start to your shore excursion thanks to the excellent connections.
The port of Chania, located in the sheltered Bay of Souda, is the gateway to western Crete and is easily accessible thanks to its proximity to the international airport and the well-developed coastal road. The modern terminal infrastructure in Souda allows for quick processing and offers cruise guests a direct connection to the city center, which is about seven kilometers away.
Airplane
Chania International Airport (CHQ) is located about 15 kilometers from the port and is served directly from major hubs such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich during the summer season. Thanks to the short distance, you can reach the cruise terminal in Souda comfortably by taxi in about 20 to 25 minutes or use the regular KTEL bus connections that link the airport with the city and the port area.
Car & Transfer
You can reach the port of Souda directly via the Cretan national road EO90 (A90), which serves the north coast of the island. Parking for short-term and long-term parkers is available on site, and the terminal can be reached from Chania's old town in around 15 minutes by car, with numerous cruise lines and private providers organizing reliable shuttle services directly to the ship.
