Port information & tips for Agia Anna

Agia Anna is a picturesque coastal gem on the Cycladic island of Naxos, captivating visitors with its authentic Greek charm and the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean. This idyllic spot offers a relaxed atmosphere with fine sandy beaches and a tamarisk-lined promenade that invites you to linger in traditional tavernas. Nearby highlights include the golden sands of Agia Anna, the charming rock chapel of Agios Nikolaos, and the neighboring, expansive beach of Agios Prokopios. Smaller cruise ships use the central pier of Agia Anna, providing guests with direct access to the village center. Thanks to excellent connections, the historic island capital of Naxos Town, featuring the famous Portara, is also just a few minutes' drive away.

Agia Anna on Naxos is a charming coastal village with a small pier that serves as a starting point for local boat trips. Arrival requires a well-planned travel chain, which usually includes a flight to Athens and onward travel by domestic flight or ferry to Naxos.

Airplane

The most convenient way to arrive from the DACH region is via Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (ATH), from where you can take a connecting flight to Naxos Airport (JNX). National airlines such as Olympic Air and Sky Express offer regular flights that take about 40 to 45 minutes. Naxos Airport (JNX) is located only about 3.8 kilometers from Agia Anna. From the airport, you can reach Agia Anna quickly by taxi or private transfer in about six minutes. During the summer months, there are also bus connections between the airport and Agia Anna.

Ferry

Alternatively, you can easily reach Naxos by ferry from Athens. The main departure ports are Piraeus and Rafina. From Piraeus, which is accessible from Athens city center and directly from the airport thanks to good metro connections (Line 1 or 3), both conventional ferries (e.g., Blue Star Ferries, approx. 5-6 hours travel time) and high-speed catamarans (e.g., SeaJets, approx. 3 hours 15 minutes travel time) operate. Rafina is located closer to Athens Airport and offers a travel time of about 4 hours. It is recommended to book ferry tickets four to six weeks in advance via platforms such as Ferryhopper, especially for the high season. The main port of Naxos is located in Naxos Town (Chora) and is about 6 to 7 kilometers from Agia Anna. From there, local KTEL buses (Line 1 or 10) take you directly to Agia Anna in about 17 to 26 minutes; these run every half hour in summer. Taxis are also available at the port exit.

Pre-Cruise Hotel & Local Transfers

Due to the multi-part journey to Agia Anna, especially for long-haul flights, staying overnight in a pre-cruise hotel on Naxos is highly recommended to start your cruise vacation relaxed. Agia Anna itself offers various accommodations near the beach. Locally, Agia Anna is very easy to explore on foot, and taxis and buses are available for exploring the island or for the transfer to the small pier for local boat trips. A free public parking lot is available near the beach and the pier if you wish to use a rental car, although arriving early to secure a space is advisable in the high season.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
