Roth is a charming destination in Middle Franconia, idyllically situated on the Main-Danube Canal and welcoming travelers with a harmonious blend of Bavarian tradition and vibrant industrial history. The picturesque town offers an inviting atmosphere and serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the Franconian Lake District. Cultural highlights include the magnificent Schloss Ratibor with its splendid ceremonial hall and the fascinating Fabrikmuseum, which impressively presents the local craft tradition. Thanks to organized shuttle connections or an extensive walk along the water, the historic center with its cozy market square is quickly and easily accessible for visitors.

The port of Roth, idyllically located on the Main-Danube Canal, serves as an important starting point for river cruises in Franconia. Thanks to its central location, it is easily accessible by car, train, and via the nearby Nuremberg Airport.

Car

Roth is well-connected to the German motorway network via the federal highways B2 and B466, particularly to the A9 (Munich-Berlin). Coming from the A9 motorway, take the Roth exit and follow the signs towards the city center and Main-Danube Canal. Short-term parking is usually available directly at the port or in the immediate vicinity; for longer stays during your cruise, it is recommended to check the offers of local parking lots or hotels in Roth.

Train

Roth station is a regional hub and offers connections, including the S2 S-Bahn line from Nuremberg. From Roth station, you can easily reach the ship pier on the Main-Danube Canal by taxi in a few minutes or use local bus connections. The distance from the station to the port area is usually only a few kilometers.

Airplane

The nearest international airport is Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg (NUE), located approximately 40 kilometers from Roth. From there, direct train connections exist to Nuremberg Main Station, where you can change to the S2 S-Bahn to Roth. Alternatively, taxis or rental cars offer a direct transfer option to the port of Roth, with a travel time of about 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
