Merzig is an idyllic destination in the heart of the Saarland and captivates with its picturesque location in the green Saar Valley. Merzig is ideally connected to the German motorway network. Via the A8 motorway, you can take the Merzig exit directly. From the direction of Trier, the B51 federal highway also leads comfortably into the city. For the duration of your cruise, parking options are available at the Stadthalle P&R parking lot in the immediate vicinity of the ship berths or at the Merzig marina. There are also further open parking options at Merzig station.

Merzig (Saar) station is a relevant arrival point and is located on the Saarbrücken–Trier railway line. From Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof, there are half-hourly regional train and hourly regional express connections with a travel time of around 30 to 40 minutes. From Merzig station, you can easily reach the ship berths on the Saar, such as the Merzig marina or the berth near the Stadthalle, on foot in about 10 to 15 minutes.
Airplane
The nearest major airport is Luxembourg Airport (LUX), about 55 kilometers northwest of Merzig. An alternative is Saarbrücken Airport (SCN), located around 60 kilometers to the southeast. From both airports, it is recommended to continue your journey by rental car or taxi to enjoy the comfort and flexibility of a direct drive to the ship berths in Merzig. Public transport connections from Luxembourg Airport to Merzig are currently not optimal.

The world-renowned Wolfspark Werner Freund is easily accessible from the port in about ten minutes by taxi and offers you the rare opportunity to observe various wolf packs in spacious forest enclosures within their natural social structure. Thanks to its quiet forest paths, this special place in the Merziger Kammerforst invites you to a relaxed and at the same time educational tour and also offers fascinating insights into ethological research. Ideally, plan your visit for the morning to experience the animals in a more active phase, and return to the ship at least sixty minutes before departure to end the excursion with a coffee at the well-maintained Saar promenade directly at the pier.
The return journey to the ship pier on the Saar is extremely relaxed and safe, thanks to the central location and the clear city layout.
On Foot
From the historic Kirchplatz and the adjacent pedestrian zone, you can stroll directly through the well-kept Stadtpark back to the banks of the Saar. The path is flat as well as well-signposted and takes about 15 minutes to lead you comfortably back to your cruise ship at the berth near the sports and leisure park.
Taxi
Central taxi ranks are located directly at Merzig station and at the central Kirchplatz in the city center. In addition, you can easily have a taxi called for you at the reception of major hotels such as the Hotel Roemer, which will bring you and your luggage safely and punctively to the port.
Public Transport
Local bus lines connect the outer districts and sights like the Wolfspark Werner Freund directly with the city center and the port area. For the return journey, use the stop at the sports and leisure park near the adventure pool Das Bad to reach the ship stress-free and directly, thanks to the regular schedule.
