Cruise ships dock directly at the central Meissen landing stage below the Altstadtbrücke, from where travelers can easily reach the historic center and the marketplace on foot in just a few minutes thanks to the excellent location.
Meißen is a charming center for Elbe cruises and can be easily reached thanks to good transport connections. Mooring points for river cruise ships are located directly in the city area and are easily accessible.
Car
Meißen is directly connected via the B6 federal road, which links the region with the A4 (Dresden-Chemnitz) and A14 (Leipzig-Dresden) motorways. Coming from the A4, take the "Wilsdruff" exit and follow the B6 towards Meißen. Various public parking lots are available in the city area, for example at the Elbeparkplatz or near the old town. Long-term parking options can often be booked with local providers or hotels; it is advisable to clarify this in advance.
Train
Meißen station is well connected to the regional rail network and is regularly served by the Dresden S-Bahn (S1), which offers a direct connection to Dresden Main Station and the airport. From Meißen station, you can reach the central mooring points on the Elbe in about ten to fifteen minutes on foot. Alternatively, taxis are available at the station to take you comfortably to the ship.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Dresden Airport (DRS), located approximately 25 kilometers from Meißen. From Dresden Airport, you can reach Meißen comfortably by S-Bahn (S2 to Dresden Main Station, then change to the S1 to Meißen) or by taxi or rental car in about 30 to 40 minutes driving time. For a relaxed arrival, an overnight stay in Dresden or Meißen on the day before embarkation is recommended for longer flights.
