Port information & tips for List (Sylt)
List auf Sylt marks the northernmost point of Germany and welcomes guests with a unique blend of exclusive lifestyle and untouched nature. Its privileged location on the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site ensures an incomparable maritime flair, while the salty North Sea air and the vast dune landscapes invite immediate relaxation. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the interactive Erlebniszentrum Naturgewalten Sylt and the legendary northernmost fish stall in Germany, Gosch, located directly at the harbor basin. An excursion to the nearby Naturschutzgebiet Ellenbogen also offers spectacular views of pristine beaches. Cruise ships dock at the central pier in the Lister Hafen, allowing passengers to comfortably reach the charming town center and the lively promenade on foot thanks to the short distances.
The port of List on Sylt is a popular starting point for ferry connections to Rømø and smaller excursion boats. It is easily accessible on the island of Sylt, although the journey to the island itself represents the primary logistical element.
Car
The journey to Sylt is comfortably made via the Sylt Shuttle car train or the RDC Autozug Sylt, which runs from Niebüll to Westerland. From Westerland, List in the north of the island is well signposted via the B199 and can be reached in about 20-30 minutes. In List itself, there are limited parking facilities directly at the harbor as well as further public parking spaces within walking distance for short and long-term parkers. For longer trips, it is advisable to check the offers of parking operators in Westerland, who often provide shuttle services.
Train
Westerland (Sylt) station is an important hub with direct Intercity connections from many German cities. From there, you can reach the port of List comfortably with the public line 1 buses, which run regularly. The journey time is approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on the connection. Alternatively, taxis are available at Westerland station to take you directly to the port of List.
Airplane
Sylt Airport (GWT) is located south of Westerland and is only about 25 kilometers from the port of List. It is served directly from various German cities both seasonally and year-round. From the airport, you can reach List comfortably by taxi or rental car; the journey takes about 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Arriving the day before is always recommended for relaxed travel to compensate for any weather-related flight delays.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is generally scheduled for about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
