Port information & tips for Hirschhorn

Hirschhorn is known as the pearl of the Neckar Valley and is a picturesque highlight of any river cruise through southwestern Germany. The small town impresses with its romantic location in a striking bend of the Neckar and enchants visitors thanks to its medieval backdrop and authentic historical charm. Outstanding sights include the majestic Schloss Hirschhorn with its impressive panoramic view, the Gothic Carmelite Monastery Church, and the winding old town full of magnificent half-timbered houses. River cruise ships dock directly at the central pier on the banks of the Neckar, from which the historic city center and the climb to the castle are easily accessible in just a few minutes on foot, allowing for a particularly comfortable and inspiring shore excursion.

Hirschhorn am Neckar, the "Pearl of the Neckar Valley," is a picturesque stop for river cruises in Hessen and is easily accessible from across the entire DACH region. There is no large terminal in the traditional sense; instead, river cruise ships dock directly along the banks within the town area, allowing for short walks into the historic center.

Car

Thanks to the federal roads B45 (from the direction of Heidelberg and Michelbach) and B37 (from the direction of Mosbach), Hirschhorn is easy to reach by car. Free parking is available for arriving guests throughout the town, for example at the Neckar riverbank on Jahnstraße or near the Evangelical Church. This makes arriving in your own vehicle significantly easier.

Train

Hirschhorn (Neckar) station is perfectly located directly on the riverbank and is an important stop on the Neckar Valley Railway. The Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn (Line S1) provides direct connections to Heidelberg and Mosbach every half hour. From the station, travelers can easily reach the river cruise ship docks on foot.

Airplane

The nearest major international airport is Frankfurt am Main (FRA), which is a good option for transfers. From there, a comfortable train connection to Hirschhorn (Neckar) exists with a travel time of about 1 hour 39 minutes, usually via Mannheim Hauptbahnhof. Alternatively, private transfer services offer fixed prices for a relaxed journey directly from Frankfurt Airport to Hirschhorn.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
