Port information & tips for Bleckede

Bleckede is an idyllic jewel on the Elbe and invites travelers to discover the untouched nature of the Niedersächsische Elbtalaue Biosphere Reserve in its full glory. The charming half-timbered town impresses with its historical flair and a relaxed atmosphere right on the picturesque course of the river. Cultural highlights include the informative Biosphaerium Elbtalaue in the striking Schloss Bleckede as well as the historic old town with its artistic facades. River cruise ships dock at the central Bleckede pier, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the town center. Thanks to this prime location, guests can reach the city center and the popular dike promenades within a few minutes' walk while enjoying comfortable access to the fascinating regional sights.

The tranquil Bleckede harbor on the Elbe serves as an idyllic mooring point for river cruises and is easily accessible from the entire DACH region thanks to good road and bus connections. A central cruise terminal, as is common in large seaports, does not exist in Bleckede; the ships dock directly at the banks of the Elbe.

Car

Bleckede is ideally accessible via the A24 motorway from the direction of Hamburg. Take the Zarrentin exit and follow the B195 towards Boizenburg, from where you can reach Bleckede and the Elbe ferry directly. For long-term parking, the free parking lot at Schützenplatz (access via Schützenweg) is available, which is only a few minutes' walk from the harbor and the city center. In the city center, there are also free parking spaces with parking disc regulations for short-term parkers in Breite Straße and Friedrich-Kücken-Straße.

Train

Travelers from the DACH region can easily reach Bleckede via Lüneburg station, an important railway hub. From there, bus line 5100 runs directly to Bleckede in about 30 to 35 minutes, with bus times coordinated with the arrivals of the metronom trains. Bleckede station is only a ten-minute walk from the city center and the harbor. In addition, the historic Bleckeder Kleinbahn offers trips between Lüneburg Nord and Bleckede on selected dates; however, this is a museum railway on which the Deutschland-Ticket is not valid.

Airplane

The nearest major airport is Hamburg Airport (HAM), approximately 57 to 61 kilometers from Bleckede. Direct onward travel is possible by rental car, with the journey taking about one hour. Alternatively, you can take the S-Bahn from Hamburg Airport to Hamburg Central Station and from there take the train to Lüneburg, then use bus line 5100 to Bleckede. The total travel time by public transport can be around 2 hours and 17 minutes.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the harbor accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually around one hour before the scheduled departure.

The following also applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
