Port information & tips for Bad Bevensen
Bad Bevensen is a charming mineral health spa in the heart of the Lüneburg Heath and an idyllic stop along the Elbe-Seitenkanal. The town impresses with its relaxed atmosphere, extensive green spaces, and the soothing healing power of its springs. Special highlights include the renowned Jod-Sole-Therme, the expansive Kurpark, and the historic Medinger Mühle, which are perfect for long walks. River cruise ships dock at the central passenger pier on the Elbe-Seitenkanal, from where the town center and spa facilities are easily accessible via a walk of about 1.5 kilometers. Thanks to clear signage and the natural setting, relaxation begins for guests as soon as they leave the ship.
Bad Bevensen, a charming heath spa town, has a small landing stage on the Ilmenau, which is primarily used by pleasure craft. It is not a classic port for large cruise ships, but thanks to its excellent transport links from the entire DACH region, it is easily accessible by car, train, and plane.
Car
Bad Bevensen is conveniently located and can be reached comfortably from all directions via the German motorway network. The B4 federal road passes directly by the town and offers a quick connection to the A7 (from the south via the Salzgitter-Dreieck and A39 as well as the B4) and the A250 (from the north via Lüneburg and the B4). You can also reach Bad Bevensen from the west via the A2 and A7 to Soltau Ost, followed by the B71 and B4. Various short-term and long-term parking options are available in the town center and at the station, including car parks in Rathausstraße, Medinger Straße, Bergstraße, and "An der Aue". In addition, Bad Bevensen station offers P+R facilities on the west and east sides. A large car park is also located at the Kurhaus and the Jod-Sole-Therme. The first 15 minutes are often free of charge, with further rates of 0.50 euros per half hour started in the town center.
Train
Bad Bevensen station is a central point on the main Hamburg – Hannover line and offers hourly direct connections to both major cities. Bad Bevensen can therefore be reached in a relatively short journey time from many German cities. The station is also integrated into the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV). From there, you can reach the town center, which is about 0.6 kilometers away, in just a few minutes on foot. Taxis are available at the station, and some hosts even offer a transfer service.
Airplane
The nearest major airports are Hamburg Airport (HAM), approximately 72 kilometers away, and Hannover Airport (HAJ), approximately 91 kilometers from Bad Bevensen. From Hamburg Airport (HAM), you can easily take the S-Bahn to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and from there directly by train to Bad Bevensen. There are also good train connections from Hannover Airport (HAJ) via Hannover Hauptbahnhof. Rental cars and taxis are available at both airports for a comfortable onward journey.
Check-in & Embarkation
