Port information & tips for Anklam

Anklam is the charming gateway to the island of Usedom and a fascinating destination for river cruises along the Peene. The Hanseatic town impresses with its idyllic location in the so-called "Amazon of the North" and combines North German Brick Gothic with the pioneering legacy of aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal. Cultural highlights include the internationally renowned Otto-Lilienthal-Museum, the imposing St.-Marien-Kirche, and the historic Steintor. River cruise ships dock directly at the central Stadthafen Anklam (Am Bollwerk), which is located in the immediate vicinity of the town center. Thanks to this prime location, the historical sights and charming alleys of the town are reachable within just a few minutes' walk, guaranteeing a relaxed and inspiring shore excursion.

Anklam, the charming Hanseatic city on the lower reaches of the Peene, is an ideal starting point for relaxed river cruises and discovery tours on the "Amazon of the North". The port, primarily used as a water rest area, is easily accessible from the DACH region thanks to good road and rail connections.

Auto

Anklam is excellently connected to the road network. The federal highways B 109 (Greifswald–Pasewalk), B 110 (Demmin–Swinemünde), B 197 (Neubrandenburg), and B 199 lead toward the city in a star shape and ensure a convenient arrival. In addition, the A 20 motorway (Rostock–Dreieck Uckermark) is only about 25 kilometers west via the Anklam junction. In the Hanseatic city of Anklam, mostly free outdoor parking spaces are available to our guests, though some require a parking disc. You can find an underground car park in the Lilienthal-Center with access via Baustraße. There are also paid parking spaces for cars and motorhomes directly at the water rest area.

Bahn

Anklam station is very easy to reach thanks to its location on the Angermünde–Stralsund railway line and is served by the Regional-Express line RE3 as well as some Intercity-Express trains. The station is centrally located at Bahnhofstraße 1 and offers parking spaces, bicycle stands, and a taxi rank. From there, you can easily reach the Anklam water rest area, the usual departure point for river cruises on the Peene, in about 10 minutes on foot or by taxi.

Flugzeug

For air passengers from the DACH region, Heringsdorf Airport (HDF) on Usedom is the closest airport, around 29.6 kilometers from Anklam. From there, rental cars, taxis, or local bus connections are available for your onward journey. Another option is Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), located about 166.1 kilometers away. From there, you can reach Anklam by train in approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes. When arriving by plane, especially with longer international connections, a relaxed pre-cruise overnight stay in Anklam is recommended to start your river cruise refreshed.

Check-in & Einschiffung

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the shipping company and destination area - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
