Port information & tips for Khawr Fakkan

Khor Fakkan is a picturesque enclave of the Emirate of Sharjah on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates and impresses with its dramatic location on the Gulf of Oman. The city is framed by the majestic Hajar Mountains and offers travelers a harmonious blend of untouched nature, crystal-clear water, and Oriental hospitality. Impressive highlights in the immediate vicinity include the magnificent Roman-style Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre, the imposing artificial waterfall, and the idyllic Al Rafisah Dam. Cruise ships dock at Khor Fakkan Port, from which the palm-lined Corniche and the lively city center are easily accessible in just a few minutes thanks to the central location and excellent connections.

Khor Fakkan, picturesquely situated on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates on the Gulf of Oman, is easily accessible thanks to well-developed roads and efficient transfer options. The port features a modern cruise terminal, with free shuttle buses transporting passengers from the ship to the entrance of the port area.

Airplane

For international guests from the DACH region, Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) are the most relevant destination airports. DXB is located approximately 99 to 143 kilometers away, while SHJ is around 83 to 100 kilometers away. The nearest airport is Fujairah International Airport (FJR), only about 25 to 27 kilometers away, which however offers fewer direct connections from Europe. Comfortable private transfers and taxis are available from the airports, enabling a direct journey to the cruise port. Due to the long flight times, arrival on the day before embarkation is recommended.

Auto & Transfer

The cruise port of Khor Fakkan is very easy to reach thanks to a modern road network. In particular, the new, approximately 89-kilometer-long road between Sharjah and Khor Fakkan, which leads through several tunnels, offers a quick connection, often via the Emirates Road (E611). The driving time from Dubai is about 1.5 to 2 hours. From the port itself, free shuttle buses run, taking passengers from the ship directly to the entrance of the port area. Taxis are available there for onward travel. Long-term parking options for cruise guests are not explicitly designated directly at the terminal, which is why private transfers represent the more stress-free option.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

To start your cruise rested and relaxed, an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel is recommended after a long-haul flight. In Khor Fakkan itself, you will find options such as the Oceanic Khorfakkan Resort & Spa directly on the beach, which allows for a pleasant stay before embarkation. There are also a variety of hotels in the surrounding area, for example in Fujairah, which offer a convenient base for the journey to the port.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
