Port information & tips for Mohács

Mohács is the charming gateway to southern Hungary, welcoming travelers with a rich history and warm, Danubian hospitality. This idyllic small town right on the Danube impresses with its picturesque riverside promenade and vibrant customs, particularly famous for the Busójárás tradition, which is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Cultural highlights include the imposing Votive Church on Széchenyi-Platz and the fascinating Busó-Hof, which provides deep insights into local masking traditions. Cruise ships dock at the central Mohács Nemzetközi Hajóállomás pier, from where the historic city center and all sights are easily accessible on foot in just a few minutes thanks to excellent connections.

The cruise port of Mohács is located in the sunny south of Hungary and, thanks to its central location on the banks of the Danube, serves as an ideal starting point for journeys through the picturesque Danube Delta or towards Budapest. The piers are situated directly at the city center, allowing guests to reach historical sights and the ship comfortably.

Car

Via the Hungarian M6 motorway, you can reach Mohács directly from Budapest in about two hours, while travelers from Austria or Southern Germany use the route via Vienna and the M1. Secure parking spaces are available on-site near the port area as well as through specialized valet service providers; additionally, many cruise lines offer the convenient option of dropping off your car directly at the pier.

Airplane

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) is approximately 200 kilometers away and is served by direct flights from numerous cities in the DACH region, such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, or Zurich. From there, you can reach Mohács comfortably with the cruise lines' organized transfer buses or use a private shuttle service, which will bring you to the terminal in about two hours via the well-developed motorway.

Train

Arrival by train is typically via the Budapest hub or the nearby cultural city of Pécs, from where regular regional connections to Mohács station exist. The station is located only about two kilometers from the Danube piers, making it easy to reach the ship with a short taxi ride or a stroll through the charming old town.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: For shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.
