Port information & tips for Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve (Private Island)

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is an exclusive island paradise in the Bahamas and a shining example of ecological regeneration in the heart of the Caribbean. The former industrial site has been transformed into a flourishing marine reserve and delights visitors with eight pristine sandy beaches as well as a relaxed, natural atmosphere under palm trees. Striking highlights include the iconic red and white lighthouse with its spectacular evening show, the shallow Smiling Fish Lagoon, and the luxurious Ocean House. Thanks to the dedicated Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve Pier, ships dock directly at the shore, allowing guests to easily reach all attractions and the inviting island center on foot or via free electric trams in a very short time.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is an exclusive island paradise in the Bahamas, which is visited exclusively as part of an MSC cruise. For guests from the DACH region, arrival therefore takes place via the major embarkation ports in Florida, primarily PortMiami or Port Canaveral, from where the ships set course for the private resort.

Airplane

For travel from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Miami International Airport (MIA) is the ideal destination airport, as it is served directly by hubs such as Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich. Alternatively, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is an option, located only about 45 kilometers north of Miami and often offering attractive connecting flights.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Miami Airport, you can comfortably reach the cruise terminal in about 20 to 30 minutes by taxi, Uber, or the cruise line's organized shuttle buses. If your journey begins in Port Canaveral, we recommend a flight to Orlando International Airport (MCO), from where you can reach the port via the SR-528 highway in around 45 minutes.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight time and to provide a buffer for potential delays, arriving at least one day before embarkation is highly recommended. Many hotels in Downtown Miami or near Orlando Airport offer special cruise packages that include a transfer to the ship in addition to the overnight stay, guaranteeing a relaxed start to your vacation.
