Arrival by Plane (and Expedition Ship)
Arrival from the DACH region typically involves a long-haul flight to a major Canadian hub, such as Ottawa (YOW) or Montreal (YUL). From there, connecting flights are available to Iqaluit Airport (YFB) in Nunavut, the territory's largest airport. Iqaluit often serves as a vital gateway for Arctic expeditions, as it is only reachable by air or sea and acts as the aviation hub for the Baffin region. Expedition ships visiting Halford Island often start or include segments from such Arctic gateway cities or Greenland. Halford Island itself has no airport or fixed terminal.
Pre-Arrival and Logistics
Due to the long flight paths and remote location, it is strongly recommended to arrive at least one day before embarkation in a Canadian gateway city like Ottawa or directly in Iqaluit. Transfers from the airports to the expedition ship are usually organized by the cruise lines to ensure smooth logistics in this unique environment.

Direct travel to Halford Island by car or train is not possible. The island is located in the Arctic Archipelago of Nunavut, is uninhabited, and has no road or rail network. Access to the entire territory of Nunavut is primarily by air and sea.
