Car
Criccieth is well-connected to the road network and can be reached via the A497, which runs through the town. From the east, you can reach Criccieth via the A55 (North Wales Expressway) and then via the A487 and A497. From the south, the A487 leads directly into the region. Paid public parking is available in the town center, for example at the beach or near the castle, which can also be used for longer periods.
Train
Criccieth railway station is located on the picturesque Cambrian Coast Line and offers connections to Pwllheli in the west and towards Machynlleth, Shrewsbury, and further to Birmingham in the east. From the station, you can easily reach the town center and the coast on foot in a few minutes, as the station is very centrally located. This allows for a relaxed onward journey to the potential embarkation or tender point.
Airplane
The nearest major airport is Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL), about 160 kilometers east of Criccieth, with a driving time of around 2 hours and 15 minutes. Another option is Manchester Airport (MAN), which is approximately 190 kilometers away and requires a driving time of about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Both airports offer direct flights from the DACH region. From there, good train connections exist to North Wales, although changes in Chester or Shrewsbury are necessary to reach Criccieth. Alternatively, rental cars or private transfer services can be used. Arriving the day before is recommended for international flights to ensure a relaxed onward journey.
