Invergordon is the picturesque gateway to the Scottish Highlands and welcomes travelers with the authentic charm of the region. Its location on the deep blue Cromarty Firth provides a spectacular backdrop and at the same time offers the ideal starting point for discoveries in the wild nature. Directly in town, visitors can marvel at the impressive Invergordon Murals and also quickly reach historical treasures such as the fairytale Dunrobin Castle or the legendary Loch Ness. Cruise ships dock at the centrally located Invergordon Service Base at Admiralty Pier. Thanks to this first-class location, the main shopping street and local attractions are just a few steps away from the pier, allowing for a completely relaxed and comfortable shore excursion.
Invergordon is the maritime gateway to the Scottish Highlands and is very easy to reach thanks to its proximity to the city of Inverness and its direct connection to the A9 main road. Ships usually dock directly in the town center at the piers of the Cromarty Firth Port, allowing for a quick transition from the mainland to the ship.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Inverness (INV), located about 50 kilometers from the port, which is easily accessible from the DACH region via London or Amsterdam. From there, you can reach the terminal in around 50 minutes by taxi or rental car; additionally, larger airports such as Edinburgh (EDI) or Glasgow (GLA) offer further connections with subsequent onward travel by train or rental car through the Highlands.
Train
Invergordon railway station is located on the so-called Far North Line and is only about 500 meters from the cruise terminal. There are regular connections from Inverness with a travel time of about 55 minutes, making the journey from other parts of Scotland and the United Kingdom comfortable and scenic.
Transfer & Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the idyllic location in the Highlands, we recommend arriving a day early with an overnight stay in Inverness or directly in Invergordon. Many guests use private transfer services or the cruise lines' organized shuttle buses to relaxingly bridge the approximately one-hour journey from Inverness Airport while gathering their first impressions of the Scottish landscape.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents will usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.
