Inverewe Garden in Scotland is primarily known as a magnificent botanical garden and usually serves as a port of call for cruise ships' tender boats to visit the garden, rather than as a classic embarkation port. Nevertheless, travel to the remote Wester Ross is well-plannable.
Car
Inverewe Garden is located in a remote part of the Scottish Highlands and is accessible via the A832, which passes through Poolewe. The drive through the picturesque landscape is an experience in itself, but requires a longer travel time. On-site, there are paid parking spaces directly at the garden for visitors. Special Park & Cruise providers do not exist here, as it is not a typical embarkation port.
Train
The nearest railway station is Achnasheen, located about 30 miles (approx. 48 km) southeast of Inverewe Garden. However, there is no direct public transportation from Achnasheen to Poolewe or Inverewe Garden. Further travel would have to be by taxi or a pre-arranged rental car, which makes this option less practical. The larger Inverness station is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours away by car.
Airplane
Inverness Airport (INV) is the nearest airport and is about 80 miles (around 130 km) from Inverewe Garden. From there, further travel to Inverewe Garden is best possible with a rental car; the drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours through scenic areas. Direct flights from the DACH region to Inverness are rare; a change in a major British city like London or Manchester is often required. Due to the distance, arriving the day before with an overnight stay in Inverness or the surrounding area is recommended.
