Brodick is the charming gateway to the Isle of Arran, which is often referred to as Scotland in miniature thanks to its diverse landscapes. The picturesque bay impresses with a stunning backdrop of rugged mountains and rolling green hills, radiating an inviting atmosphere and genuine Highland romance. Highlights include the imposing Brodick Castle with its magnificent gardens and the nearby Isle of Arran Heritage Museum, which brings the island's history to life. Cruise ships use the central Brodick Ferry Terminal, from which Shore Road with its cozy cafes and the beach promenade are just a few minutes' walk away, making the stay both convenient and eventful for visitors.
Arrival at the charming cruise port of Brodick on the picturesque Isle of Arran is mainly via the Scottish mainland, as the island is connected by ferry. The modern Brodick Ferry Terminal offers a good infrastructure for arriving guests.
Plane & Transfer
For international guests from the DACH region, Glasgow Airport (GLA) is the nearest major airport, providing a convenient journey. It is located approximately 39 kilometers from Ardrossan, the mainland ferry port to Brodick, with a travel time of around 35 to 50 minutes by taxi or private transfer. Alternatively, Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) is also an option, located about 28 kilometers from Ardrossan and reachable in approximately 23 minutes. To ensure a relaxed start to your cruise, an overnight stay in the Glasgow area or near Ardrossan on the day before embarkation is recommended due to the longer flight time and ferry transfer.
Train & Ferry
Arrival by train is comfortably possible thanks to direct connections to the ferry port Ardrossan Harbour. Trains run regularly from Glasgow Central directly to Ardrossan Harbour Railway Station. The journey time from Glasgow to Ardrossan is approximately 47 minutes to 1 hour 41 minutes. Ardrossan Harbour station is only a short walk of about two minutes from the Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) ferry terminal, making the transition to the ferry particularly easy. The CalMac ferry takes you from Ardrossan to Brodick in about 55 minutes.
Car & Ferry
Guests wishing to arrive with their own vehicle can reach Ardrossan via well-maintained roads, for example in about 45 minutes from Glasgow. Sufficient secure parking for short- and long-term stay is available at the Ardrossan ferry terminal, managed by CalMac. It is advisable to book ferry tickets in advance, especially for car transport during the summer months, as the route from Ardrossan to Brodick is very popular. The ferry to Brodick on the Isle of Arran allows for a convenient crossing with a car and takes around 55 minutes. At the Brodick Ferry Terminal itself, there are also parking spaces for approximately 65 vehicles, including charging facilities for electric cars.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
