Gdynia is the modern gateway to the Polish Baltic coast and the ideal starting point for exploring the historic Tri-City. The port city impresses with its maritime elegance, extensive promenades, and a fascinating blend of modernist architecture and Hanseatic flair. In close proximity to the berth, the famous sailing ship Dar Pomorza, the historic destroyer ORP Błyskawica, and the Gdynia Aquarium invite visitors for exciting tours. Cruise ships dock at the Nabrzeże Francuskie (French Quay) at the striking cruise terminal, from where Gdynia's city center can be comfortably reached in only about 1.5 kilometers, and thanks to excellent connections, quick excursions to picturesque Gdansk are also possible.
Gdynia serves as the maritime gateway to the Polish Tricity and, thanks to its modern infrastructure and proximity to historic Gdansk, is a comfortable starting point for Baltic Sea cruises. Most ships dock at Nabrzeże Francuskie right next to the striking Emigration Museum, which is located just a few kilometers from the city center.
Airplane
Gdansk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) is located about 25 kilometers from the port and is directly served by numerous cities in the DACH region such as Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, or Zurich. From the terminal, you can easily reach the ship by taxi in about 30 to 40 minutes or use the modern PKM regional train, which connects the airport directly with Gdynia Główna station.
Train
For travelers from Germany, the daily EuroCity Berlin-Gdynia-Express is an ideal option, connecting the German capital directly with Gdynia Główna station in around six hours. From the station, you can reach the cruise terminal in a short, approximately ten-minute taxi ride, while enjoying your first views of the port city's maritime architecture.
Car & Parking
Arrival by car is via the well-developed A1 motorway from the south or the S6 expressway from the west, allowing for a swift journey from the German border. Guarded long-term parking spaces are available directly at the port and in the immediate vicinity; additionally, for longer journeys, a pre-cruise overnight stay in magnificent Gdansk is recommended to start the cruise in a particularly relaxed manner.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually provide a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
