Arrival from the DACH region is usually by plane, with a combination of flight and possible train or rental car journey being a good option.

Airplane

Oulu Airport (OUL) is the nearest and second largest airport in Finland. It is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Oulu city center. Direct flights from the DACH region are rare, so a flight with a stopover in Helsinki (HEL) is often recommended. From Oulu Airport, you can reach the city center and the port easily by bus (line 8) or taxi in about 20 to 30 minutes. The bus stop is located directly in front of the terminal building.

Train

Oulu Central Station (Oulun rautatieasema) is an important hub in the Finnish rail network with good connections to Helsinki and Rovaniemi. From there, you can reach the port areas and terminals, which are located near the city center, easily by taxi in a few minutes. It is advisable to find out about the exact parking regulations and availability from the respective cruise line or port operator in advance. Since the port directly borders the city center, the distances to the berths are short.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always observe the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
