Nyborg on the island of Funen is the historical heart of Denmark and welcomes cruise guests with a fascinating blend of royal history and maritime flair. Located directly on the Great Belt, the former residence city impresses with its well-preserved medieval old town, cozy half-timbered houses, and the impressive view of the Storebælt Bridge. Highlights include the majestic Nyborg Castle, considered the oldest royal castle in the North, as well as the historic Vor Frue Kirke and the atmospheric market square. Cruise ships dock at the Nyborg Cruise Quay, from which the city center is easily accessible on foot thanks to the short distance of about 800 meters, while also providing an ideal starting point for explorations.

Nyborg, centrally located on the Danish island of Funen, is excellently connected thanks to the Storebælt Bridge and is an easily accessible cruise port with a functional terminal near the charming city center.

Car

Nyborg is optimally connected to the Danish road network via the European E20 motorway. This leads directly over the impressive Storebælt Bridge, which connects Funen with Zealand and thus enables direct travel from Germany and other parts of Denmark. Parking options for cruise guests can be found near the port as well as in the city center, for example on Nørrevoldgade near the town hall. It is recommended to check the exact local parking regulations.

Train

Nyborg station (Nyborg St.) is well connected to the Danish rail network and offers regular connections, including from Copenhagen. A train journey from Copenhagen Airport (CPH) to Nyborg St. takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2 hours and 32 minutes. From Nyborg station, you can easily reach the cruise terminal, located only about 1 to 2 kilometers away, by taxi or a short walk.

Airplane

The nearest major international airport is Copenhagen (CPH), around 135 to 154 kilometers from Nyborg. Various transfer options are available from there: The direct train connection to Nyborg station is comfortable. Alternatively, private taxi transfers are available, or you can use FlixBus long-distance buses, which reach Nyborg in about two hours. For a relaxed embarkation, especially for longer flights from the DACH region, arriving the day before with an overnight stay in Copenhagen or Nyborg is recommended.
