Cruise ships dock at Phu My Port, which, thanks to its location, serves as an ideal base for shore excursions. The drive to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, located about 80 kilometers away, takes approximately 90 minutes and can be easily arranged via organized transfers or private tours.

Phu My is the most important deep-water port for Ho Chi Minh City and is visited by large cruise ships from all over the world due to its location on the Cai Mep River. Since the port area is located approximately 70 to 80 kilometers southeast of the metropolis, coordinated onward travel from the airport or hotel is essential for a relaxed start.

Airplane

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City is the central arrival point for guests from the DACH region and is regularly served by connecting or direct flights from Frankfurt. The travel time from the airport to the port of Phu My via the CT01 highway and the QL51 national road is approximately 90 to 120 minutes, depending on traffic.

Transfer & Private Car

From the airport or the city center, you can easily reach the ship with organized transfer services from the cruise lines or a pre-booked private chauffeur. These services use the well-developed highway connection and bring you safely over the distance of around 75 kilometers to the terminals, with local drivers providing the best orientation in the extensive port area.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight duration and the time difference, we recommend arriving at least one day before embarkation and staying overnight in Ho Chi Minh City. A stay in the central districts of the metropolis allows for relaxed acclimatization and also offers the opportunity to visit Vietnamese highlights such as the Opera House or the Post Office before the transfer to the port.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
