Port information & tips for Krabi

Krabi is an exotic jewel on the Thai west coast, captivating visitors with its spectacular backdrop of steep limestone cliffs and emerald-green waters. This region on the Andaman Sea offers a harmonious blend of untouched nature, lively markets, and a relaxed tropical atmosphere. Impressive highlights include the majestic Tiger Cave Temple with its breathtaking panoramic views, the striking Khao Khanap Nam twin rocks, and the dreamy Railay Beach. Cruise ships mostly use the Klong Jilad Pier or anchor at sea directly off the coast. Thanks to the short distance of only about four kilometers to the city center, the vibrant heart of Krabi Town is quickly and comfortably accessible by taxi or tuk-tuk.

Krabi in Thailand is a fascinating cruise destination and is typically reached by guests from the DACH region via Fly & Cruise. Due to the long journey, an overnight stay before embarkation is recommended. The most important passenger port is the Klong Jilad Pier near Krabi Town, which serves as a hub for ferry connections to the surrounding islands and has basic infrastructure for travelers.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Krabi International Airport (KBV), located about 15 kilometers from Krabi city center. It is approximately 17 kilometers to Klong Jilad Pier, while Ao Nang, a popular tourist center, can be reached in about 26 to 27 kilometers. There are usually no direct flights from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland; travel usually involves a transfer at major hubs such as Bangkok, Doha, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Krabi International Airport (KBV), you can easily reach your destination by taxi or private transfer. A taxi ride to Klong Jilad Pier takes about 20 to 21 minutes, and to Ao Nang around 45 minutes. Alternatively, shuttle buses are available, which are more affordable and reach Krabi Town in about 25 to 30 minutes and Ao Nang in 60 to 90 minutes, as they make several stops along the way. Ride-hailing services like Grab also offer flexible booking directly via the app.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Especially after a long-haul flight, a relaxed arrival is an advantage. It is recommended to spend at least one night before the cruise in Krabi Town or the lively Ao Nang. Numerous hotels in these areas offer not only comfortable accommodation but also organized transfers to the port, making the transition to the ship particularly pleasant. This allows you to start your cruise well-rested and stress-free while exploring the beauty of Krabi in advance.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
