Salomague Port near Vigan in the Philippines is a dedicated cruise terminal that allows direct access without tender boats. The port itself is located in a rural setting and primarily serves as a starting point for excursions to the historic city of Vigan, which is about 40 to 42 kilometers away. There are few facilities directly at the pier, making good planning for onward travel essential.
Airplane
Arrival from the DACH region typically takes place by plane via Manila International Airport (MNL). From there, a connecting flight to Laoag International Airport (LAO), the nearest major airport to Vigan, is recommended. Laoag (LAO) is located around 80 kilometers north of Vigan, and the drive from there takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The smaller Vigan Airport (Mindoro Airport, RPUQ) is primarily intended for private and charter flights and does not offer regular commercial connections for general travel.
Transfer & Shuttle
Taxis or pre-arranged private vans are the most convenient transfer options from Laoag International Airport (LAO) to Vigan and onward to Salomague Port. Direct public transport connections from the airport to the port are not efficient for cruise guests. The drive from Vigan to Salomague Port takes about 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic via the Manila North Road (McArthur Highway), a major thoroughfare where delays can occur. It is strongly recommended to book the transfer to the ship in advance, as transport options directly at the pier are limited.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long international flight times and subsequent onward travel, an overnight stay near Vigan or Laoag on the day before embarkation is recommended. This allows for a relaxed arrival and provides a buffer for potential travel delays. Check-in & Embarkation
