Port information & tips for Romblon Island
Romblon is the heart of the province of the same name in the Philippines and is considered a hidden gem in the middle of the Sibuyan Sea. Known as the "marble capital" of the country, the island impresses with its authentic atmosphere, colonial architecture, and the crystal-clear water that surrounds it. Visitors can visit the historic St. Joseph Cathedral and venture up to Fort San Andres, which offers a spectacular panoramic view, while the nearby Bonbon Beach with its striking sandbar invites you to dream. Cruise ships dock directly at the Romblon Pier (Port of Romblon), which is located right in the center, so that travelers can easily reach the charming streets and local marble markets on foot in just a few minutes thanks to the short distances.
Romblon Island, an idyllic destination in the Philippines, is primarily accessible through a combination of flight and ferry connections. The port of Romblon Town is centrally located and serves as a major hub for inter-island ferries, while cruise ships generally dock as a tender port.
Airplane (International)
For travelers from the DACH region, the journey usually begins with a long-haul flight to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Manila, the largest hub in the Philippines. Direct flights are available from major European cities, allowing for a convenient connection. From Manila, the onward journey to Romblon can be optimally planned.
Onward Journey (Domestic Flight & Ferry)
The fastest option often includes a domestic flight. Although direct flights to Tugdan Airport (TBH) on Tablas Island, the airport for Romblon province, have been temporarily suspended at times, travelers can alternatively fly into Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (MPH) in Caticlan (Boracay). From there, the journey continues by ferry to Tablas Island and then by another ferry, for example with Starlite Ferries, to the port of Romblon Island. Another popular route is traveling by bus from Manila to Batangas Port (approx. 2-3 hours travel time) followed by a comfortable, often overnight ferry crossing (approx. 8-12 hours) directly to Romblon Town. Romblon Port is easily reachable from the town center by tricycle in about 10-15 minutes.
Pre-Cruise Hotel & Port
Given the long journey and potential connection times, an overnight stay in Manila or on one of the nearby islands before embarkation is highly recommended. Numerous hotels and resorts offer pleasant relaxation. The port of Romblon Town has basic facilities such as parking, however, bringing cars on the ferry connections to Batangas is not permitted for foot passengers. On cruises, Romblon is often a tender port, meaning guests are brought ashore by smaller boats, allowing for a flexible arrival directly in the heart of the town.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
