Returning to the ship

El Nido on Palawan is a tropical paradise primarily reached via combined flight and transfer routes. The port itself consists of several docking points in the city and the surrounding area, which serve as starting points for cruises with smaller expedition ships or local boat tours.

Airplane

Travel from the DACH region generally requires long-haul flights to Manila (MNL) or Cebu (CEB), followed by a domestic flight. The most convenient way is a connecting flight to El Nido Lio Airport (ENI), which is located only about 4 kilometers north of the city of El Nido and is served by AirSWIFT (now bookable via Cebu Pacific). Alternatively, Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS) can be used, though this requires a longer onward journey of about 5-6 hours by van.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Lio Airport (ENI), you can reach El Nido city center and the piers in about 15-20 minutes by tricycle or shuttle van. Many hotels also offer a free pick-up service. For travelers arriving at Puerto Princesa Airport (PPS), minivans are available that run several times daily and complete the route in about 5 to 6 hours. The cost for this is approximately 600 to 700 PHP per person. Private van transfers are also bookable and offer additional comfort.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long journey from Europe involving multiple flights and transfers, an overnight stay in El Nido before embarkation is highly recommended. This allows for relaxed acclimatization and ensures that you arrive at your cruise on time and well-rested. There are numerous accommodation options in El Nido town and at the surrounding beaches, many of them within a short distance of the docking points. Small parking facilities for rental cars are available in El Nido city center, for example on Hama Street or near the marketplace.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
