Bucas Grande is a pristine natural paradise in the southeast of the Philippines and, as part of the Sohoton Cove National Park, fascinates with a spectacular backdrop. The region impresses with its labyrinthine limestone formations, emerald-green lagoons, and unparalleled biodiversity, radiating an atmosphere of absolute tranquility. Highlights include the famous Sohoton Cove, the fascinating jellyfish sanctuary in Tojoman Lagoon, and the mysterious, blue-glowing Hagukan Cave. As there is no classic cruise terminal for large ships, expedition vessels usually anchor off the coast and take guests by tender boat directly to the Sohoton Cove Tourism Center or to Socorro Pier. From here, the most important natural wonders as well as the charming town center of Socorro are easily and quickly accessible thanks to short boat routes and local transfers.

Airplane
For international guests from the DACH region, arrival by plane is the most comfortable way. You first fly to one of the international hubs such as Manila (MNL) or Cebu (CEB), from where numerous domestic flights to the nearest airports are offered. Siargao Airport (IAO) is an excellent option and is located just a short drive from Dapa Port, an important ferry terminal for further travel. Alternatively, Surigao Airport (SUG) also offers daily connections from Manila and Cebu and is a good starting point for onward travel to Bucas Grande.
Transfer & Ferry/Boat
After arriving at Siargao Airport (IAO), you can reach Dapa Port by van, from where passenger boats depart for Socorro on Bucas Grande in about an hour. From Surigao City, boats depart from the city terminal to Socorro, which takes about two hours. A popular route also leads from Surigao Airport (SUG) by taxi or bus to Hayanggabon Port in Claver, a journey of about one hour. From there, you can reach Sohoton Cove on Bucas Grande directly by boat in just around one hour, which offers the shortest crossing.

In view of the long flight from the DACH region and the necessary connecting links, an overnight stay before embarkation is recommended. Hotels in General Luna on Siargao or in Surigao City provide an ideal base for a relaxed start to your island adventure.
