Port information & tips for Osaka

Osaka is Japan's pulsating metropolis in the heart of the Kansai region and delights as a dynamic gateway to fascinating Japanese culture. The city combines futuristic architecture with traditional charm and is also known as a culinary world capital, welcoming its visitors with a unique atmosphere. In the immediate vicinity of the port, the world-famous Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and the impressive Tempozan Ferris Wheel entice with spectacular views over the wide bay. Cruise ships dock at the modernly equipped Tempozan Cruise Terminal, which, thanks to its excellent connection to the subway, enables easy accessibility to the lively city center and the historic districts in only around 20 minutes.

The Port of Osaka is easily accessible for international guests thanks to its modern infrastructure and the central location of the Tempozan Cruise Terminal. The direct connection to Osaka Bay allows for uncomplicated onward travel to the city's cultural highlights and the surrounding regions.

Airplane

Kansai International Airport (KIX) is the most important gateway for travelers from the DACH region and is located approximately 50 kilometers south of the terminal. You can reach the port comfortably by Airport Limousine Bus in about 60 minutes or use the JR and Nankai line express trains for a quick transfer to the city center.

Train

If you arrive by Shinkansen via the central Shin-Osaka Station, you can reach the port in around 35 minutes by metro. From Shin-Osaka, the Midosuji Line leads to Honmachi Station, where you change to the green Chuo Line, which takes you directly to Osakako Station, located within easy walking distance of the ship.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the time difference and the long flight time from Europe, an overnight stay before embarkation in the central districts of Namba or Umeda is very advantageous. Many hotels in this area offer high levels of comfort and are also ideal starting points to enjoy Osaka's culinary offerings stress-free before the start of the cruise.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
