Miyako is a fascinating jewel on Japan's wild and romantic Sanriku Coast and impresses with its stunning natural scenery and authentic hospitality. Cruise ships dock at the modern Fujiwara Quay in the Port of Miyako, from which the city center and the train station are easily accessible in only about ten minutes thanks to efficient shuttle connections or short taxi rides.
The port of Miyako on the impressive Sanriku Coast welcomes cruise ships at Fujiwara Pier, which is located about three to five kilometers from the city center. Thanks to the modern infrastructure of Iwate Prefecture, the terminal is well-connected to the Japanese long-distance transport network and enables an organized arrival from the DACH region.
Airplane
For guests from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the journey usually begins at the international hubs of Tokyo-Haneda (HND) or Narita (NRT), which are served regularly. For a shorter land transfer, an inland flight to the regional Iwate-Hanamaki Airport (HNA) is recommended, from where you can reach the port in around 105 minutes by taxi or rental car via well-developed national roads.
Train
Arrival by train is particularly efficient thanks to the Tohoku Shinkansen and leads directly from Tokyo Station to Morioka in around 130 minutes. From there, you can easily reach Miyako with the Express Bus 106 or the JR Yamada Line; the trains and buses offer a picturesque journey through the mountain landscape and provide direct connections at Miyako Station to the short shuttle transfers to the Fujiwara terminal.
