Kanazawa is the cultural jewel on Japan's west coast and a fascinating destination full of tradition and elegance. Absolute highlights include the magnificent Kenrokuen Garden, considered one of Japan's most beautiful gardens, as well as the imposing Kanazawa Castle and the colorful Omicho Market. Cruise ships dock at the modern Kanazawa Port Cruise Terminal, which is architecturally impressive and also boasts excellent connections. From this terminal, travelers can easily reach the city center, located about five kilometers away, in about 15 minutes by shuttle bus or taxi and immediately immerse themselves in Japanese history.

Airplane
For travel from the DACH region, we recommend a flight to the international hubs of Tokyo-Haneda (HND) or Tokyo-Narita (NRT), from where several daily connecting flights to Komatsu Airport (KMQ) are available. After landing at Komatsu Airport, you can reach the cruise terminal or the city center in about 40 minutes by comfortable airport shuttle bus or by taxi via the well-developed Hokuriku Expressway.
Train
Kanazawa Station is a major hub and is connected directly to Tokyo via the Hokuriku Shinkansen in just around two and a half hours, allowing for a comfortable journey through the picturesque Japanese landscape. From the station, you can easily reach the port in about 15 minutes by taxi or a public scheduled bus, with many cruise lines also providing exclusive shuttle services for their guests directly to the ship on arrival days.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long journey and the time difference, an overnight stay before the cruise in one of the high-quality hotels near Kanazawa Station or in the central Korinbo district is highly recommended. This offers you the opportunity to visit world-famous sights such as the Kenrokuen Garden or the historic Geisha district at your leisure and, thanks to the short distances, appear refreshed for embarkation at the terminal the next day.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
