Airplane
The nearest major airport is Sendai Airport (SDJ), which is located approximately 55 kilometers southwest of Ishinomaki. International guests from the DACH region usually fly first to Tokyo (Narita NRT or Haneda HND) and from there continue to Sendai, often by domestic flight or Shinkansen. From Sendai Airport, you can reach Sendai Main Station comfortably in about 25 minutes via the Sendai Airport Access Line.
Rail
Ishinomaki Station is directly connected to Sendai Main Station via the JR Senseki Line. The journey from Sendai to Ishinomaki takes about one hour. Sendai itself is an important hub for the Tohoku Shinkansen, with fast and comfortable connections to Tokyo. From Ishinomaki Station, the cruise terminal is usually easily accessible by taxi in just a few minutes.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Given the long journey from the DACH region and potential time zone differences, an overnight stay in a hotel before embarkation is recommended. The city of Sendai offers an excellent selection of accommodations near the main station, from where the onward journey to Ishinomaki the next day can be stress-free.
