Hososhima is located on the picturesque east coast of the island of Kyushu and serves as a charming gateway to the sun-drenched Miyazaki Prefecture. Cruise ships dock at the modern Ozai Pier in the port of Hososhima, which is about five kilometers from the city center of Hyuga. Thanks to excellent connections, travelers can reach the most important sights and the vibrant city center comfortably in just a few minutes by shuttle bus or taxi.

Airplane
For guests from the DACH region, traveling to Hososhima is usually best done by plane. The nearest airport is Miyazaki Airport (KMI), located approximately 74 to 76 kilometers from the port. The travel time from the airport to the port is about 1 hour and 12 minutes to 1 hour and 14 minutes by car or taxi. Private transfer options directly from the airport to your destination in Japan are also available.
Train
A comfortable onward journey from Miyazaki Airport (KMI) is possible by train. The nearest relevant station is Hyuga-shi (日向市駅) on the JR Nippou Main Line. The train journey from Miyazaki Airport to Hyuga-shi takes about 1 hour and 8 minutes to 1 hour and 14 minutes. From Hyuga-shi Station, you can easily reach the port with a roughly 10-minute taxi ride.
Pre-Cruise Hotel & Transfer
Given the long journey from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, we recommend staying overnight in a pre-cruise hotel in the Miyazaki or Hyuga City region at least one day before embarkation to start your cruise relaxed. Hotels can be found in both Miyazaki and Hyuga City. Many cruise lines offer organized transfers from the airport to the ship, and taxis and local buses are also available for the journey between Hyuga City Station and the port.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is generally about one hour before the scheduled departure.
