Airplane
The main access point for travelers from the DACH region is Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ) in Sorong. This airport is the most important gateway to Raja Ampat and is served via domestic connecting flights from major Indonesian cities such as Jakarta, Bali (Denpasar), Makassar, and Manado. There are currently no direct international flights to Sorong, so travel via one of these hubs is necessary. Sorong Airport is modern and well-connected to the city center and the port.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Sorong Airport (SOQ), you can reach the ferry port by taxi in about 10-20 minutes. From there, public ferries or speedboats run to Waisai, the capital of Raja Ampat on the island of Waigeo. The fast ferry takes about 1.5 to 2 hours for the crossing. Piaynemo itself is then only accessible from Waisai or other islands in the Fam Islands by smaller boats, often as part of day trips or as part of a diving cruise. Many cruise providers organize the transfer from Sorong Airport directly to the ship.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long international journey and the remote location, an overnight stay in Sorong before embarkation is recommended. This allows for a relaxed arrival and provides buffer times in case of flight delays. Check-in & Embarkation
