Manokwari is the charming capital of West Papua and opens the gateway for travelers to the pristine nature of Doreh Bay. The region impresses with its authentic atmosphere and, thanks to the combination of dense rainforests and crystal-clear water, offers an incomparable paradise for explorers. Particularly worth seeing are the historic island of Mansinam with its striking Cross Monument and the nature reserve at Gunung Meja, which impresses with its botanical diversity and spectacular views. Cruise ships dock at the central Pelabuhan Manokwari, from which the lively city center can be reached in just a few minutes due to its immediate proximity, providing direct access to authentic markets and cultural treasures.

Airplane
The nearest airport is Rendani Airport (MKW), located about 3 to 5 kilometers southwest of Manokwari city center. A trip from the airport to the center takes approximately 10 minutes. International travelers from the DACH region typically reach Manokwari via long-haul flights to Jakarta (CGK) or Denpasar (DPS) in Indonesia, followed by domestic flights. Batik Air often offers direct flights to Manokwari, while other connections usually require a stopover, often in Makassar.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Rendani Airport (MKW), you can easily reach the city and the port by taxi or ojek (motorcycle taxi). Taxi rides cost between 100,000 and 150,000 IDR, while ojek can be a more affordable alternative. Additionally, some higher-class hotels offer a free airport transfer. The local transport infrastructure also includes public minibuses that serve the main routes in the city.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long journey and necessary domestic flights, an overnight stay in Manokwari on the day before your embarkation is strongly recommended.
