Ilha dos Portugueses is a natural island off the coast of Mozambique that serves as an idyllic anchorage for cruise ships and is reached by tender boat. The actual port of arrival and departure for cruises in the region is Maputo, the vibrant capital of Mozambique, which is easily accessible thanks to its international airport. The cruise terminal in Maputo is centrally located, making exploration of the city particularly convenient.

Airplane

For travelers from the DACH region, traveling to the cruise port of Maputo is primarily recommended by plane. The nearest international airport is Maputo International Airport (MPM). International airlines offer connections, often with a layover, from major European cities. Due to the long travel time, it is recommended to arrive in Maputo at least one day before the scheduled embarkation to start the cruise in a relaxed manner.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Maputo International Airport (MPM), you can easily reach the cruise terminal in the city center. The terminal is located relatively close to the city center, often within four kilometers. A taxi ride takes about ten to fifteen minutes, and it is advisable to agree on the fare in advance. Many cruise lines also offer organized transfers. From the terminal, Maputo city center, including the historic train station building directly opposite, is within easy walking distance.
