The Midnatsol, english 'midnight sun', is since 2016 in dependece on the arctic summer. It cruises from May to September along the norwegian coast and is the rest of the year responsible for expedition cruises around the world. The Midnatsol is colorful equipped and displays the sunny and warm climate of Norway. The modern interior design with the ecological profile is based on domestic products and was introduced in the norwegian tv documentation 'Hurtigruten 365'. The most important characteristic is the sun terrace and the jacuzzi on deck 9. Additionally, the ship offers a large and two-storied panoramic lounge above the bug. The Midnatsol is equipped with a high technology and therefore perfectly fit for expeditions in the Antarctic. About Hurtigruten
Hurtigruten is a traditional norwegian cruise line. Since 1893 it is active in the mailboat service along the norwegian fjord coast. Every day one of the 11 mailboats starts in Bergen to the 12 day post ship route. Meanwhile Hurtigruten also offers exciting expedition cruises through South America, the Antarctica and lots of other destinations. They always focus on sustainability, that's why the ships all sail with sustainable fuel and they don't want to pollute the environment in which they sail. Rubbish collecting is only one of the interesting shore excursions.

As the first cruise line Hurtigruten has banned all single-use plastic from its fleed. These things, e. g. straws oder plastic bags will be replaced by paper or other biological disposable material.
