About Costa Cruises
With over 75 years of history, Costa Cruises is one of the traditional European shipping companies. Italian cruise fans feel particularly comfortable and ensure a typically Italian attitude towards life on board. However, depending on the route, there are also many international passengers on board. Many return from their cruise enthusiastic about the good value for money. During the holidays, the family-friendly shipping company welcomes many children to their ships. So it is not surprising that the Costa Smeralda is also very popular for family cruises.
About Costa Smeralda
The Costa Smeralda has been strengthening the shipping company's fleet since autumn 2019. It has been build in the German Meyer shipyard. New products and innovations on the one hand, the well-known warmth of Italian hospitality on the other - an unforgettable holiday experience awaits you on board the new Costa Smeralda. The name itself is reminiscent of the emerald coast of Sardinia, one of the most beautiful destinations in Italy, and promises a holiday feeling and relaxation. Overall, the ship is 337 meters long and with its 19 passenger decks, the Costa Smeralda is currently the largest ship in the Costa fleet. There is space for up to 6,218 passengers on board. Attention was also paid to the area of environmental compatibility in the new building. Thanks to the latest engine technology, the Costa Smeralda can be operated with LNG, the fossil fuel with the lowest emissions, both in port and on the open sea, which means that emissions can be sustainably reduced.
