Returning to the ship

Marigot Bay on St. Lucia is known for its scenic beauty and serves primarily as an exclusive anchorage for yachts and catamarans, but also for smaller cruise ships or as a tender port for larger vessels visiting the bay. Travel from the DACH region is primarily by air, as St. Lucia is an island in the Caribbean Sea.

Airplane

The nearest international airport for travel to St. Lucia is Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in the south of the island, approximately 60 to 90 minutes drive from Marigot Bay. Flights from the DACH region usually require a stopover in North America or a European hub such as London. A smaller airport, George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) near Castries, primarily serves inter-Caribbean flights and is about 30 to 45 minutes from Marigot Bay.

Transfer & Shuttle

Various transfer options are available from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF), including taxis, private transfers, and minibuses that will take you directly to Marigot Bay. Many cruise lines also organize shuttle services as part of their travel packages. The drive along the well-developed coastal road already offers your first picturesque views.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long journey from the DACH region and the time difference, a pre-cruise overnight stay on St. Lucia is strongly recommended, ideally near Marigot Bay or in Castries. This allows for a relaxed start to your cruise without the stress of a direct transfer from a long-haul flight to embarkation. In and around Marigot Bay, you will find several exclusive resorts and hotels that provide an excellent starting point.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will typically receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
