For guests from the DACH region, traveling to ships that navigate this passage usually means traveling to the larger embarkation ports such as Puerto Natales or Punta Arenas, located further south.
Airplane
The primary arrival for guests from the DACH region is by plane to one of the regional airports. The closest airport to Puerto Natales is Teniente Julio Gallardo Airport (PNT), located only about 7 kilometers northwest of the city. However, this airport offers only seasonal and limited direct flights, for example from Puerto Montt with Sky Airline and LATAM. A more frequent option is Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo International Airport (PUQ) near Punta Arenas, which is about 180 kilometers from Puerto Natales and offers better flight connections, often via Santiago de Chile.

From Teniente Julio Gallardo Airport (PNT) in Puerto Natales, the city's docks are quickly accessible by taxi thanks to the short distance. When arriving via Punta Arenas Airport (PUQ), regular bus connections (e.g., from Bus-Sur or Buses Fernández) to Puerto Natales are available, taking about 3 hours and 5 minutes and costing between 8 and 27 US dollars. For travelers wishing to go directly to Punta Arenas, there are also private transfers from PUQ airport to hotels or the cruise port of Punta Arenas, with a travel time of approximately 20 to 40 minutes.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long journey from the DACH region to Patagonia and the often necessary domestic flights, it is strongly recommended to spend at least one night in Puerto Natales or Punta Arenas before your planned embarkation. This allows for a relaxed arrival to prevent jet lag and to buffer potential flight delays before you begin your cruise through the Chilean fjords. Many hotels in these cities are prepared for cruise guests and sometimes offer special packages.
