Returning to the ship

The port of Porto Vecchio, located in the picturesque south of Corsica, is an important gateway to the island and a popular starting point for ferry connections as well as a port of call for smaller cruise ships. The main terminal, the Gare Maritime, is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from the charming city center.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Figari – Sud Corse (FSC), approximately 18 to 25 kilometers from Porto Vecchio. A ride by taxi or private transfer takes about 25 to 30 minutes and is the fastest way to reach the terminal. Alternatively, bus line B is available, which costs about €10 and takes around 35 minutes from the airport to Porto Vecchio, although it only runs twice daily. For a stress-free journey, it is recommended to book taxis or private transfers early, especially during the high season.

Car & Ferry

Arrival with your own vehicle from the DACH region is usually by ferry from France or Italy to Corsica. Major ferry ports on the French mainland include Marseille, Toulon, and Nice, from which connections to Porto Vecchio are offered. There are also ferry connections from Italy, for example via Golfo Aranci or Porto Torres on Sardinia. In Porto Vecchio itself, you can reach the port directly via the T10 main road; follow the signs for "Port de Commerce". Paid parking is available in the port area and near the city center. Arriving early is advisable, especially in the summer season, as traffic volume can be high.

Transfer & Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to Corsica's island location and the sometimes long travel times by ferry (e.g., 13-14 hours overnight from Toulon) or with connecting flights, a relaxed start to your vacation is particularly valuable. It is therefore recommended to arrive one day before your planned embarkation and book an overnight stay in Porto Vecchio. From Figari Airport (FSC), private shuttle services are available in addition to taxis, allowing for a comfortable transfer directly to the port or your pre-cruise hotel. Porto Vecchio also offers a diverse selection of accommodations to suit every taste.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
