Returning to the ship

Armação dos Búzios is a picturesque tender port on the Brazilian Costa do Sol, where cruise ships anchor in the protected bay and guests are brought directly to the central Cais do Mangue pier or Porto Veleiro. Thanks to its location on a peninsula, you can reach the city center and the famous Rua das Pedras immediately after leaving the tender boats.

Airplane

For travelers from the DACH region, Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport (GIG) is the most important arrival point, with regular flights from Frankfurt and other European hubs. The airport is located approximately 180 kilometers from the port; additionally, the Santos Dumont (SDU) domestic airport, located closer to the city center, offers practical connecting flights within Brazil. An alternative for domestic flights is Cabo Frio Airport (CFB), which is only about 30 kilometers from Búzios.

Transfer & Shuttle

The drive from Rio de Janeiro to Búzios takes about three hours by car or transfer bus and leads over the impressive Rio-Niterói Bridge as well as the BR-101 and RJ-124 (Via Lagos) highways. In addition to private chauffeur services and rental cars, cruise lines often offer convenient bus shuttles directly from the airports or hotels in Rio. Furthermore, regular long-distance buses operated by Viação 1001 run directly from Galeão Airport or the Novo Rio bus station.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the transfer time from Rio de Janeiro and the relaxed vacation atmosphere in Búzios, we recommend arriving at least one day before embarkation and staying overnight in one of the charming local pousadas. Many accommodations are within walking distance of the pier, allowing for a stress-free start to your cruise while giving you the opportunity to explore the peninsula's more than 20 beaches and the sophisticated flair along the Orla Bardot.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually provide a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
