Port information & tips for Busselton (Margaret River)

Busselton is the charming gateway to the world-famous Margaret River wine region in southwest Australia and impresses with endless white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water. The relaxed coastal atmosphere at picturesque Geographe Bay delights visitors and, thanks to the mild climate, offers ideal conditions for exploring nature and the sea. An absolute must is the iconic Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden pier in the Southern Hemisphere, including the fascinating Underwater Observatory as well as excursions to the renowned wineries of the surrounding area. Since ships lie at anchor in the bay, guests reach the Busselton Jetty Pier directly by tender boats, from where the lively waterfront promenade and the city center are easily accessible in just a few minutes on foot.

The cruise port of Busselton, the gateway to the famous Margaret River Region, welcomes ships as a tender port in picturesque Geographe Bay. Passengers are conveniently disembarked by tender boat at the Busselton Jetty, from where the city center and surrounding attractions are easily accessible on foot. Due to the long journey from the DACH region, a pre-cruise overnight stay in the area is recommended to start your cruise adventure relaxed.

Airplane

For guests from the DACH region, Perth Airport (PER) is the primary international destination airport, located approximately 220 kilometers north of Busselton. Busselton Margaret River Airport (BQB) also offers domestic flights, mainly from Melbourne and Sydney. The pure driving time from Perth Airport to Busselton is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes, depending on traffic and the chosen transfer.

Car

Busselton is accessible via well-developed highways. From the greater Perth area, the Wilman Wadandi Highway (formerly Bunbury Outer Ring Road) leads to the Bussell Highway (State Route 10), which takes you directly to Busselton and shortens the travel time. In Busselton, a designated cruise parking lot with short- and long-term options is available only about 200 meters from the tender area at the Jetty. The city also offers various public parking zones in the center.

Transfer & Shuttle

Comfortable buses, for example from South West Coachlines, run directly from Perth Airport (PER) to Busselton. The journey takes about 3 hours 5 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes and costs between 30 and 45 AUD. Alternatively, taxis and private transfers offer a faster, direct connection from Perth Airport to Busselton in about 2 hours 30 minutes, although pre-booking is advisable due to the distance.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
