Port information & tips for Heilbronn

Heilbronn is the dynamic heart of the Heilbronn-Franken region and is idyllically nestled on the banks of the Neckar, surrounded by extensive vineyards. This charming wine city combines modern architecture and innovative science with historical flair and a lively riverside promenade right on the water. Cultural highlights in the immediate vicinity include the award-winning science center experimenta, the striking Kilianskirche with its magnificent high altar, and the historical Götzenturm. River cruise ships prefer to dock at the central pier at Adolf-Alter-Ufer, from where the picturesque city center and the culinarily diverse Neckarmeile can be easily reached in just a few minutes on foot thanks to the prime location.

Heilbronn is a significant and centrally located port for river cruises on the Neckar and is easily accessible from the DACH region thanks to its excellent transport links. The berths are located close to the city center and allow for convenient access to the downtown area.

Car

Thanks to the direct connection to the A6 (E50) and A81 (E41) motorways as well as the B27, B39, and B293 federal roads, you can reach Heilbronn easily. For the duration of your trip, public parking spaces are available near the berths, for example in Hafenstraße or Lohtorstraße. In addition, the city center offers numerous parking garages for conveniently parking your vehicle.

Train

Heilbronn Hauptbahnhof is an important regional hub and offers excellent connections to the ICE stops in Stuttgart, Mannheim, and Würzburg with regular interval services. From the main station, you can reach the centrally located berths and the city center comfortably on foot via several bridges or with the local city train (S4, S41, S42) and bus lines.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Stuttgart (STR), around 50 to 60 kilometers away, with a travel time of about 40 to 50 minutes. Direct bus connections from the Stuttgart Airport Busterminal to Heilbronn Hauptbahnhof also exist, with a travel time of approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes. Alternatively, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is an option, located about 111 to 128 kilometers away and accessible by direct bus or train in around 2 hours and 1 minute. Numerous private transfer services ensure a relaxed onward journey to the ship. For longer flights, we recommend arriving the day before to start your cruise experience well-rested and stress-free.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
