In Opatija itself, public, mostly paid parking facilities as well as hotel parking spaces are available; advanced reservation is recommended, especially for multi-day parking.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Rijeka (RJK) on the island of Krk, about 24 to 42 kilometers from Opatija. The transfer time is only about 35 to 40 minutes thanks to taxi and private shuttle services, such as HB Transfer or GoOpti, with costs starting from approx. €80 for a standard vehicle. Further options include Pula Airport (PUY) at a distance of approx. 57-100 kilometers (approx. 70 minutes travel time) or Zagreb Airport (ZAG) at a distance of about 144-181 kilometers (approx. 2 hours travel time). Although Opatija does not have its own main station, the nearest station is Opatija-Matulji, which is located outside the direct city center. Often, Rijeka Main Station (Željeznički kolodvor), which is only about 13 kilometers away, allows for a more convenient arrival. From there, regular buses run to Opatija, taking you directly to the city center in about 20 to 25 minutes. A taxi ride from Rijeka to Opatija takes approx. 18 minutes.

The journey back to the port of Opatija is very easy and safe thanks to the central location of the mooring directly in the city center. Since larger ships often lie at anchor, you should allow a small time buffer for the transfer by tender boat to the Gat sv. Nikole pier.
On Foot
Via the famous Lungomare coastal promenade, you can return directly and without detours to the port area. Thanks to its flat nature, the path is comfortable to walk and leads you from Park Angiolina or the Maiden with the Seagull statue to the meeting point for the return journey in just a few minutes.
Taxi
Official taxi ranks can be found directly at the central Slatina bus station and in front of large hotels such as Hotel Milenij or Hotel Ambasador. In addition, you can easily request a vehicle at local cafés or beaches, which will take you quickly and directly to the port entrance.
Public Bus
Bus line 32 connects the surrounding coastal towns such as Volosko or Lovran with the city center of Opatija at high frequency. From the Slatina stop, you can also walk to the pier in a short time and reach your ship punctually thanks to the short distances within the town.
