Hopperstad Stave Church

The Hopperstad Stave Church is located about 1.7 kilometers from the tender pier and is easily reachable on a walk of around twenty-five minutes through the picturesque village of Vikøyri. Built around 1130, this architectural masterpiece is one of the oldest and best-preserved stave churches in Norway and impresses with its artistic carvings and iconic dragon heads. Thanks to its location on a small hill, the site offers a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape and is ideal for a relaxed cultural tour. Ideally, start your excursion early in the morning to enjoy the mystical atmosphere inside before the larger crowds of visitors arrive, and return to the harbor feeling relaxed after about two hours.

Returning to the ship

The return journey to the port of Vik is very relaxed and safe thanks to the manageable size of the village. You can reach your ship within a short time from the most important sights.

On Foot
