Returning to the ship

Pinhão is picturesquely situated in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Douro Valley and serves as a central pier for exclusive river cruises through Portugal's most famous wine region. The ships dock directly at the Cais de Pinhão waterfront promenade, which is easily accessible on foot from the historic railway station and local hotels.

Airplane

Porto Airport (OPO) is the most important gateway to the region and is served directly from numerous cities in the DACH region such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich. From Porto, you can reach Pinhão in about 90 minutes by private transfer or rental car, with the drive via the A4 motorway and the N222 national road considered one of the most scenic routes in Europe.

Train

Arriving by train via the traditional Linha do Douro is considered one of Portugal's most spectacular railway routes and ends directly at Pinhão station, which is world-famous for its artistic azulejo tiles. Regional trains run several times a day from Porto-São Bento or Porto-Campanhã stations, bringing you to your destination in a relaxed manner in around 2.5 hours and allowing for a short walk of only about five minutes to the ship.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

A stay before the cruise in one of the exclusive wine estates, known as Quintas, or in a boutique hotel directly in Pinhão allows for a particularly relaxed start to your holiday. Many of these establishments also offer secure parking for guests with rental cars and can organize a short transfer to the nearby pier upon request, so you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Douro Valley in peace even before embarkation.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is generally scheduled for about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
